Dear Supporting Member:

I have some great news for you. The Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association has changed its conference schedule from TWO large conferences per year to just ONE. And that means we will be asking our supporting members to donate raffle items just once per year, instead of twice.

In the past it probably seemed like our solicitations were constant. I’m sure you’ll agree that one conference raffle and one letter will be so much easier for both of us.

But there is a drawback. This is YOUR ONE OPPORTUNITY this year to expose your product to the largest state organization of outdoor communicators in the country.

The Spring conference, our only full-scale conference this year, will take place in Oil City April 30-May 3. It will feature our annual “Excellence in Craft” awards banquet on Saturday evening, which always brings out a big crowd. Supporting member products will be on display before and during the banquet, and raffled off at the end of the evening.

This is also where you can make personal connections with some of the best outdoor communicators anywhere. (Be looking for a letter or e-mail from Connie Yingling, our supporting member liaison, inviting you to attend this conference in Pennsylvania’s historic oil region.)

As chairman of the POWA Ways & Means committee, I’m asking that you send raffle items to committee member Harvey Bauer, 299 Jimtown Road, Brookville, PA 15825. He will log in each item and personally transport them to the conference site. It will help us report to the membership if you also send a quick email with a brief description of the items, copying both Harvey (bump1@windstream.net) and me (stevesorensen@verizon.net).

Finally, on behalf of everyone in the POWA, I thank you for being a faithful supporting member, for the contribution you make to the Spring 2009 raffle, and for helping us raise funds to keep POWA a strong voice representing you in the outdoor world.

With gratitude,

Steve Sorensen
